& The Restless Kind

EP Update

Howdy!  I’m happy to say that we are putting the finishing touches on the new EP “Out From Within”, which means a projected release for the end of March is very feasible.  I’ve fallen in and out of love with these songs through the course of 5 months, but the blood, sweat and tears are starting to pay off and the end product is starting to sound unique, beautiful and vulnerable….exactly how I wanted it.  We also made sure to lace in some sounds that will hint to what you may expect from the Full Length album that we are starting to demo out in a couple weeks.  This is going to be a very exciting year for myself and the band….lots of music will be coming your way and hopefully reaching more people and building a bigger foundation so we can continue to do what we love….Make Music!!  Thanks for your patience and all your support.

Please take a look at the tour dates because we are adding new shows weekly.  Looking forward to seeing your faces at upcoming shows!

Yeah for the weekend!

TONIGHT we grace ST. Charles with our presence at Chord On Blues!!  Excited to play a new town and a new venue I must say!

TOMORROW NIGHT we bring it on home to Rockford, IL. to play our favorite little dive bar….Mary’s Place.  Stiff drinks, real people and a damn good time….doesn’t get any better than that now does it?

Hope to see your awesome faces at one of these shows!!  GIDDYUP!

Giddyup….2012!!

Oh Yeah….Happy New Year!!  Excited to start 2012…I think it’s going to be a saucy 365 days.  We have a February release for the EP “Out From Within” and in a couple weeks we start tracking for the full length record.  We are adding new shows to the calendar everyday so please keep checking.  I will be in Portland in March and California in June and just finalizing some locations and dates there.

The T-shirts are in and they look amazing.  Thank you to Andy Whorehall (www.andywhorehall.com) for the great design and our friends at Pirate Ninja Print Shop (www.pirateninjaprintshop.com) for making them look so fantastic.  The unisex Burgundy (truffle) tee is now available at the Goodsie Store (http://www.goodsie.com/store/kelly-steward).  We are still putting the Store together and adding more stuff and we’ll keep you posted when more options become available.

I hope everyone is enjoying a great start to their New Year…looking forward to seeing your great faces throughout the year at our shows!

Jambalaya, Jameson and Jingle Bells

A few Sundays ago a few of Rockford’s finest singers and The Restless Kind got together for some cocktails and Jambalaya and decided to lay down some vocals on a little Christmas tune I had been playing around with.  We had so much fun with it!!  Some of us drank more than others….ahem (Arik), but I think it turned out pretty good.  It’s not a masterpiece but we had fun doing and want to share it with you all for the holidays!!!  So ENJOY!!

THANK YOU TO:  Holland Zander, Pat Doherty, Greg Whitson, Jesse Carmona, Jessica Bruneni, Arik Jenkins and Dane Brown for your contribution

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYBODY!!!

Xmas Again by Kelly Steward

WHAT’S THE WORD?

We are working on shows for Spring/Summer 2012….the thought of it makes it easier to get through the frigid cold of a Midwest winter creeping in and overstaying it’s welcome.   We don’t have a lot of shows planned in the next few months….for one, who likes schlepping their gear in and out of the snow, much less driving in it…not this girl….AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, we are in the midst of finishing an EP called “Out From Within” that will be out by the end of January and we have already started the groundwork on the full length LP that our hopes will be released by the end of Summer or early Fall 2012.  LOTS AND LOTS of writing will be done in these winter months, greatest time for writing and we will emerge with some really really great new tunes for you.  STAY TUNED….

CHICAGO THIS WEDNESDAY!!

Kelly Steward & The Restless Kind will be showcasing some fine saucy beats this Wednesday night at BEAT KITCHEN on Belmont in CHICAGO!!!  We grace the stage at 8pm SHARP…one of 4 bands that evening so the whip will be cracked and we will play professional style on time for once…so GET THERE EARLY and have a cocktail or two with us schmucks and ENJOY THE SHOW!!!  Other folks playing that evening are: Jeff Massey (of The Steepwater Band) / Righteous Hillbillies / Justin and the Salty Dogs

CALIFORNIFIDE!

Had a great solo trip to Los Angeles this past weekend.   Thank you again Sunset Boulevard and LAX for giving me the best people watching experience!!  A BIG HUGE THANKS  to LEFT COAST WINE BAR in Glendale, CA for having me play Monday night….a very intimate show and the sound was incredible.  Rochelle has quite an amazing spot there and if you are ever in the LA. area…it is a must that you check out her place!  I will be back there again in the Spring and looking forward to it.  Thanks, also, to my good friend Paul Redel for playing guitar and new friend Mark Bates for singing and playing piano (http://www.myspace.com/markbatesmusic) ….till next time my friends.

Just Great at “Just Goods”

Thank you to everyone who came out to Just Goods in Rockford, IL last Friday night.  A beautiful listening room and you could hear a pin drop…the audience was fantastic.  We were able to play the songs as they were intended to be heard and to support a great local business that sells Fair Trade products!!  Thank you John R. Connell for capturing the moment….

Thank You Iowa!

Thank you Iowa for a fabulous weekend!  We played Friday night in Des Moines Iowa at Gas Lamp…our first venture to Des Moines and I must say it kinda blew our minds.  GREAT venue and crowd!!  Thank you Abelardo’s for the late night dinner that probably saved all our asses from a massive hangover.

We stripped the band down to a three piece for Saturday nights show at Monk’s Kaffee Pub in Dubuque.  A much tamer crowd and more intimate show…it was a lovely evening as it always is in Dubuque

We also decided to make our trip more interesting for ourselves and our fans by having a contest.  We picked a theme song for our little weekend tour and posted pics, on our Facebook fan page, along the way to give hints to our fans.  We had a lot of fun trying to find the clues…thanks to I80 Truck Stop and Way Back Records in Des Moines, we were able to find most of our clues.  I’m left with the purchase of a Buck Owens record that I’ll be spinning sometime soon.  The song was “Looking Out My Back Door” by Creedence Clearwater Revival and CONGRATS to Keith Davenport of Rockford, IL for guessing the tune. He walks away with a guest list spot to our show this Friday at Just Goods  in Rockford and a free signed copy of the “Long Long Road” EP…..

OVERALL…I think we made some Fans4LIfe!  Looking forward to invading Iowa again in March!

KS ~ xoxo
